Sew many things

Wow, it surely has been a long time since I posted a blog!

Well, hubby and I finally retired from the military after 24 years. He immediately picked up a job while I did an internship with a company for a few months. It was a great time…..but my heart is with teaching and sewing.

I had a wonderful opportunity to teach at Stitchin’ Heaven in Quitman, Texas. They have a gorgeous state of the art sewing retreat center that is the things that dreams are made of. My dreams, in fact. Seriously, they had everything I could ever want in a place. It is super goals for me. And the people who worked there were so incredibly kind. I’m hoping to go back for a visit. I can’t get enough of that place!

We have our 2nd “Sewphia” retreat coming up this week. I’ve been learning a lot from each retreat and I am not ashamed of that. In my last class I was told I shouldn’t have pointed out my mistakes because it makes me sound unprofessional. The thing is, if we don’t point them out, how does that really help others? I’ll tell you right now, I am not an award-winning quilter. Far from it! But I’m a gal with a huge heart that wants to help others in sew many ways. I’ll always point out my mistakes. Aside from being laughable, it’s also a teaching point. And it humbles me. and encourages others that it’s ok to make mistakes too.

We have some open sews coming up. I would love if folks could spread the word and come hang out. I’ll be setting up a monthly charity sew day as well. I have a TON of donated fabric and a never-ending list of folks in the community that could really use the quilted love.

It’s my birthday month (April 14) and I want to thank everyone that has made a donation to the retreat center to help me keep things running until I “make it big and famous” haha.
